About Me
Hi! I’m Attila. I work in software.
I’m currently a Staff Software Engineer at Datadog. I used to be a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Twitter (emphatically not X), and Principal Member of Technical Staff at Oracle in the Java LangTools team. I worked at some less known places too.
I most often work on either distributed systems, or language runtimes and compilers. Usually not both at the same time, but there was once a database startup where it happened.
Open Source work
My notable Open Source involvements in the past were:
- Apache FreeMarker template engine
- Mozilla Rhino, a JavaScript runtime on the JVM;
- OpenJDK Nashorn, yet another JavaScript runtime on the JVM (do you sense a pattern?) I keep maintaining this one even today. I also contribute spottily to OpenJDK, and lately a bit to Node.js as well.
Some of the work I do in my current employment at Datadog happens in Open Source software too, notably bits of Datadog’s profiler library for Node.js in pprof-nodejs, pprof-format and dd-trace-js repositories.
